NEW YORK, April 6 (UPI) -- Hall of Fame advertising executive Diane Rothschild has died of lung cancer at her New York home at the age of 63.
Rothschild, who died Saturday, was perhaps best known for her advertising campaigns touting the British Range Rover off-road vehicles and J&B Scotch, The New York Times said Friday.
In one Range Rover ad, the SUV was shown at the edge of a steep slope with accompanying text saying, "The British have always driven on the wrong side of the road." A J&B holiday season ad one year said, "'ingle 'ells, 'ingle 'ells -- the holidays aren't the same without J&B."
Her 38-year career included 14 as president of Grace & Rothschild and her election two years ago to the One Club Creative Hall of Fame. Known for her pithy sense of humor, she said at the time of her induction, "Based on the world according to uninspired, rigid, time-warped and aging advertising men, I should be home right now in a little apron," the Times said.
She is survived by her husband, Alan O. Pando, and a daughter Alexandra Spencer.
