LOS ANGELES, Jan. 10 (UPI) -- The critically acclaimed movie "Dreamgirls" is in position to win big at the 38th NAACP Image Awards to be held in Los Angeles in March.
E! Online reports that the film is "sitting pretty" with eight nominations, including one for Outstanding Motion Picture, plus acting nominations for Beyonce Knowles, Jennifer Hudson, Anika Noni Rose, Eddie Murphy, Jamie Foxx and Danny Glover, and a nod for its beautifully haunting soundtrack.
"Dreamgirls" is facing some tough competition, however, against "Blood Diamond," "Catch a Fire," "Akeelah and the Bee," and "The Pursuit of Happyness." The last two films received five nominations each, tying for second place in the number of nominations.
Fans of the television series "Everybody Hares Chris" will be delighted to see that the CW Network show garnered some eight nominations while "Girlfriends" nabbed six.
Last year's TV favorite, "Grey's Anatomy," was once again nominated for Outstanding Drama, this time around it will be up against "24," "Heroes," "The Unit" and "The Wire."
Fox will broadcast the ceremony live March 2 from Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium.
