Van Halen singer hopes for Rock Hall peace

CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Sammy Hagar hopes peace will reign at Van Halen's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.

"My hope is that everyone lets everything go and we go there in complete respect of each other and in a loving way," says Hagar, who replaced original Van Halen singer David Lee Roth in 1985 and left the famously combative band himself in 1996. "My biggest fear is there'll be animosity."

Both Hagar and Roth will be included at the March 12 induction ceremony in New York City, which will also honor R.E.M., Patti Smith, the Ronettes and Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five. The affair will be taped and shown on VH1.

There have been rumors of a Van Halen tour this year with Roth and with guitarist Edward Van Halen's son Wolfgang replacing original member Michael Anthony. No firm plans have been announced.
