LAS VEGAS, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- The Ultimate Fighting light heavyweight champion, Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell, is teaming up with Warner Bros. to promote the new U.S. film "300."
Since the Spartans portrayed in "300" were the original "ultimate fighters" of ancient Greece, it fits to have one of today's Ultimate Fighters promote the film, which opens March 9, Warner Bros. said in a release.
Warner Bros. is set to sponsor Liddell in his next Ultimate Fight in Las Vegas on Dec. 30. Liddell will also make personal appearances and lend his name and likeness to a variety of other promotions that are scheduled to take place leading up to the film's release date.
The film is based on the graphic novel "300" by Frank Miller -- a retelling of the ancient Battle of Thermopylae in which King Leonidas and 300 Spartans faced Xerxes and his massive Persian army.
The warriors inspire all of Greece to unite against the Persian enemy.
