BBC: Tennant staying on as 'Doctor Who'

LONDON, Dec. 28 (UPI) -- David Tennant reportedly plans to stay on as star of the British television series "Doctor Who," despite media stories to the contrary.

Tennant was filming the third season of "Who," and any episodes beyond that have yet to be given the green light, the BBC reported.

The Sun reported earlier this week that Tennant planned to leave the series during its fourth season. The BBC said current plans call for the series to return to BBC One in the spring.

Tennant's presence will come as good news to "Doctor Who" fans who voted him the best actor ever to play the space-traveling character.
