Rolling Stones win top tour title

NEW YORK, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- It comes as no surprise that the Rolling Stones' "A Bigger Bang" tour, which was the top grossing tour this year, has the title of the top-grossing tour ever.

The Stones made about $437 million with their tour that started in the fall of 2005, re-taking the top-grossing tour ever title from U2 and their Vertigo tour, Billboard Boxscore reported Thursday.

That total is "not bad," the Stones' tour producer Michael Cohl told Billboard.com. "And not done, eh?" he added. "There are still a lot of cancellations in Europe that the band feels obligated to try and make up. So I wouldn't be surprised if it keeps going next year."

Madonna came in second with her global "Confessions" tour, also becoming the top-grossing tour ever by a female artist. "Confessions" took in just under $195 million.

Next up was Bon Jovi with $131 million, U2 with $96 million, Tim McGraw/Faith Hill with $88.8 million, Cirque du Soleil's Delirium which made $78.5 million, Barbra Streisand was next with $76 million, followed by Kenny Chesney who made $66 million, the Dave Matthews Band made $58 million and Aerosmith was No. 10 with $58 million.
