Arrest made in attack on Indian director

MUMBAI, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Five reputed members of an Indian gang have been arrested for shooting up the office of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt.

The suspects were allegedly members of the notorious Ravi Pujari gang and were nabbed at a shopping mall in northeast Mumbai by police acting on a tip, the Press Trust of India said Thursday.

The Pujari gang is linked to extortion attempts against prominent residents of the Mumbai area, including Bhatt, who was not in his office at the time of the rampage.

The ring has used barrages of gunfire as a means of intimidation.

Many of the Bollywood movies Bhatt has directed have been crime stories.
