LOS ANGELES, Oct. 5 (UPI) -- British director Terry Gilliam is considering revisiting "The Man Who Killed Don Quixote," a film he headed before production troubles doomed the project.
IGN FilmForce.com reported Gilliam, who directed quirky films such as "Brazil" and "12 Monkeys," is contemplating a second attempt at partnering with actor Johnny Depp in creating the cinematic interpretation of the legendary literary character.
"We're in the final stages of getting the rights to Quixote back," said Gilliam, who also confirmed that Depp has agreed to be part of the project.
When asked about how he will handle the film in comparison to his first attempt, which was captured in the documentary "Lost in La Mancha," Gilliam said he would have to start from scratch.
"We have to throw it all away," he told the Web site. "We do have things like costumes stored away. There's some work that's been done, but everything we shot is gone. It's such a dangerous thing, because the documentary was so good and people have got so many images in their own head of what the film will be like. Their imagination may be better than what I produce, so who knows."
