Queen of Denmark resting after surgery

FREDENSBORG, Denmark, Sept. 18 (UPI) -- Denmark's Queen Margrethe was released from a hospital Monday after successful surgery to repair a hernia.

The 66-year-old queen was resting at Fredensborg Palace north of Copenhagen, the Copenhagen Post reported. Her husband, Prince Henrik, was to stand in for her at a European Cultural Award ceremony at the palace Monday.

Margrethe was expected to resume her normal schedule within a few days.
