LONDON, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- A feud of Shakespearean proportion canceled a performance of "Macbeth" when the British acting company suddenly broke up.
The Twisted Elbow theater company apparently disintegrated midway through its summer schedule and never showed up at the Guildhall Theatre in Preston, England, for Thursday night's performance, stiffing some 450 ticket-holders, the Times of London reported Saturday.

It appeared a rain-canceled outdoor performance in Scotland had upset the company's cash flow -- news that subsequently sent three actors off on a drinking binge that led to them being sacked.
The Times noted that the incident could be the latest incident of the "curse" that supposedly surrounds "Macbeth" and is part of theater lore.
