Hip-Hop legends honored

BOSTON, June 22 (UPI) -- The Berklee College of Music will honor hip-hop legends at its Milestones event in Boston, along with equipment-makers Numark, Alesis and Akai Professional.

The world's leading manufacturers of audio equipment, studio electronics and professional DJ equipment have teamed up with the renowned Berklee College of Music to host a gala honoring the past and current trailblazers in the hip hop-hop industry.

Among those to be honored are Grand Wizard Theodore, the inventor of scratching and needle dropping; GrandMixer DXT, the first to fuse Hip-Hop and jazz; Jazzy Jay, the first to bring Hip-Hop to radio airwaves; Jam Master Jay, founder of Run-DMC; Hip-Hop producers Marley Marl and DJ Premier, and DJ Jazzy Joyce, www.allhiphop.com reports.

Milestones will take place Sept. 22. Proceeds from the event will go towards scholarships for prospective Berklee City Music Program students.
