Ted Turner gets book deal

NEW YORK, June 9 (UPI) -- The French publishing firm Lagardere has reportedly bought the rights to media mogul Ted Turner's life story for $4.5 million.

Turner's agent had hoped to sell the rights for $7 million but settled for less with Hachette Books, part of the Lagardere company, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Ted Turner is best known for starting the Cable News Network, which he sold in 1996, along with the remainder of his Turner Broadcasting System, to Time Warner.

Earlier this year, Lagardere purchased the book unit of Time Warner.

The Journal-Constitution said no details on the Turner book were available.
