SUSSEX, England, June 8 (UPI) -- Former Rolling Stone Bill Wyman opens his first photo exhibit Friday in San Francisco.
"Wyman Shoots," culled from 22,000 images the bassist took in his spare time, will premiere at the San Francisco Art Exchange, with subsequent stops scheduled for Rotterdam, the Netherlands and London. The exhibit features photos of Wyman's friends from the worlds of music and art as well as landscape shots he took while on tour.
Not surprisingly, he has a wealth of material on the Stones. "I would shoot particularly Charlie (Watts) and Ronnie (Wood), because they didn't mind having photos taken," says Wyman. "Mick (Jagger) and Keith (Richards) were a bit more, 'Oh, don't take any more photos, Bill.' But I've got quite a lot of Mick and Keith at various times, and they're all complimentary."
Wyman plans to put together a book of his photos this year. He recently edited the British book "The Stones: A History in Cartoons" that's slated to be published in the United States in October, is working on several other book projects and also invented a metal detector for children that will be rolled out later this year.
Wyman still plays music with his band, the Rhythm Kings, and recorded on a track for Peter Frampton's new album, "Fingerprint," which is due out in September.
