PITTSBURGH, June 6 (UPI) -- Fox News correspondent Catherine Herridge underwent surgery in Pittsburgh Tuesday to donate a portion of her liver to her infant son, Peter.
Herridge chose to undergo the 11-hour surgery when her 4-month-old son's situation became critical, the New York Post reported.

After being on a liver transplant list since birth, Herridge's son was admitted to the hospital Sunday to prepare for the surgery.
Fox anchor Greta Van Susteren said on her Web site that Herridge and her husband wanted to inspire others through their actions, the Post said.
Van Susteren said she would use the story as the basis for a feature on "American advances in medicine."
