NASHVILLE, May 18 (UPI) -- Nashville superstar Gretchen "Redneck Woman" Wilson is about to become an author as well as singer/songwriter.
Wilson has signed a deal with Warner Books to write with author Allen Rucker, "Gretchen Wilson: I'll Tell You What a Redneck Woman Is," due out in November, Wilson's recording label, Sony BMG Nashville, announced Thursday in a news release.
In addition to detailing her life, Wilson will offer tips to readers on how to live the "fun, independent and empowering life of a 'Redneck Woman,'" Sony said.
Wilson was raised by her single mother in Illinois and left school in eighth grade to tend bar. She was the bar manager by age 15 and started singing with the house band.
She eventually migrated to Nashville and hooked up with another bar band, joined the up-and-coming country stars of the "Muzik Mafia" and "the rest is history," Sony said.
"More than anything else, I wanted to write this book just to be able to connect on a different level with my fans," Wilson said in a statement. "I haven't had a chance to talk to them like this yet."
