VUNG TAU, Vietnam, March 3 (UPI) -- Former British glam rocker Gary Glitter was convicted Friday of sexually abusing two young girls and sentenced to three years in a Vietnamese prison.
After a two-day trial, the court in Vung Tau concluded Glitter sexually molested the 11- and 12-year-old girls at his home in the resort city, the BBC reported.
Paul Gadd, 61, had international hits under the name Gary Glitter in the 1970s with "Rock and Roll Parts 1 and 2," which are now permanent anthems at sporting events.
Glitter claimed he was only teaching the children to speak English.
"I haven't done anything, I am innocent," Glitter said after sentencing. "It is a conspiracy by you know who."
Glitter will be deported after serving his sentence in Vietnam and could face charges for committing child sex offenses abroad when he arrives back on British soil, authorities have told the BBC.
He served half of a four-month jail term in Britain for a 1999 child porn conviction and was expelled from Cambodia in 2002 for suspected child sex offenses, the BBC said.
