Former manager sues The Killers

LAS VEGAS, Feb. 23 (UPI) -- The manager credited with discovering and guiding Las Vegas rockers The Killers to stardom is suing his former proteges for $16 million.

Braden Merrick filed his breach of contract suit in Las Vegas federal court Tuesday, claiming he found the quartet playing before a sparse crowd in a local club, spruced them up and helped them get the record deal that resulted in the CD, "Hot Fuss," which sold 6 million copies, FoxNews.com reported.

Merrick's suit names all four Killers -- Brandon Flowers, Ronnie Vannucci Jr., Dave Keuning and Mark Stoermer -- as well as attorney Robert Reynolds, who he says encouraged the band members to end their relationship with him.

Merrick claims The Killers have pulled in more than $25 million since he found them playing to an empty house in 2003.
