NEW YORK, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Edie Falco says she dropped out of the new Broadway revival of "Threepenny Opera" because she is still filming the last season of TV's "The Sopranos."
The award-winning actress, who also stars in this week's big-screen thriller "Freedomland," said in New York she was thrilled to get a part in Wallace Shawn's new adaptation of the Bertolt Brecht/Kurt Weil musical, "Threepenny Opera," which starts performances at Studio 54 on March 24.
Unfortunately, she had to bow out, thanks to the extra-long shooting schedule of her celebrated mob series.
"'Sopranos' hasn't stopped yet!" Falco exclaimed. "We just keep going and going. It's like the Duracell bunny."
Joking that her fellow New Yorker, pop singer Cyndi Lauper, had again gotten a role she coveted, Falco said she hopes to continue dividing her time between film, television and stage acting.
"They are all necessary," she maintained. "If I go too long a period without doing one, I really miss it. Although I don't have a plan, I feel like it's time to do a play and I had signed on to do one, that I had to drop out of."
