Naomi Awards single out British worst

LONDON, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- As the Brit Awards honored the best musical achievements of 2005, the Naomi Awards singled out the worst Britain had to offer.

The Naomi Awards, by the way, are named after model Naomi Campbell's disastrous try at being a pop star. They are doled out each year by the Web site, Music Choice.

Former Steps star Lisa Scott-Lee picked up three Naomis for worst British female solo artist, worst British single for "Electric" and worst pop act, Sky News reported Wednesday.

Westlife also scored a hat trick, taking awards for worst international group, worst international album and outstandingly bad contribution to music.

Lee Ryan was named worst British male solo artist, Steve Brookstein's "Heart and Soul" was worst British album and Son of Dork took the dubious honor for the worst attempt at rock.

Babyshambles won for worst live act, Ms. Dynamite was named worst urban act and Jessica Simpson was named Worst international solo artist.

Ironically, Jack Johnson, who took the Brit Award for international breakthrough artist won the Naomi for worst international male solo artist.
