Affable Clooney makes New York friends

NEW YORK, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- New York court employees say actor George Clooney was "a perfect gentleman" as he worked at the deserted Queens House of Detention on his latest film.

Clooney is playing a New York attorney in the movie "Michael Clayton" and spent Tuesday filming a jail scene with British actor Tom Wilkinson, the New York Daily News reported Wednesday.

"It's pretty much deserted," he said of the jail. "I've done a lot of films in prisons. I did one in (Louisiana state prison) Angola; I did one in Rahway (a state prison in New Jersey.) They're all the worst possible scenes, don't you think?"

Personnel from the nearby Queens Supreme Courthouse said Clooney was outgoing and friendly, greeting gawkers and extras with handshakes and smiles.

"He was a perfect gentleman," one officer told the Daily News. "He asked me how I liked my job and I said 'Fine, but I'd trade with you any day.'"
