Clooney, Soderbergh to close Section Eight

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 12 (UPI) -- George Clooney and Steven Soderbergh plan to close their Warner Bros.-based production arm, Section Eight, at the end of 2006, it was reported Sunday.

Although there has been no official announcement, the sign of the times is definitely "going out of business," Daily Variety reported Sunday.

Soderbergh has been quoted in recent interviews saying he want to focus on directing and Clooney, too, has said he wanted to turn his sites back to acting and directing and away from producing.

The production arm they founded in 2000 still has a few productions in the pipeline, including Soderbergh's "The Good German," which stars Clooney.

When the duo does indeed take down their shingle, it certainly won't be with shame, Variety noted. Their "Good Night, and Good Luck" and "Syriana" have eight Oscar nominations between them.
