Daytime Emmy nominees announced

NEW YORK, Feb. 8 (UPI) -- "The Young and the Restless" and "Ellen" led the field of nominees for the Daytime Emmy Awards announced on "The View" Wednesday in New York.

Although none of its cast made it into the lead acting categories, CBS soap "The Young and the Restless" received 18 nominations, including best daytime drama. It will go up against two of its CBS sister soaps -- "Guiding Light" and "As the World Turns" -- and ABC's "General Hospital" for the top award.

Ellen DeGeneres' talk show, which has been named best talk show two years running, received 11 nods including the top category again as well as best talk host.

The "Guiding Light" cast hogged the acting nominations with Robert Newman, Ron Raines, Beth Ehlers, Kim Zimmer, Crystal Chappell, Gina Tognoni, Jordan Clarke, Mandy Bruno and Tom Pelphrey all receiving nods.

"The View" host Meredith Vieira received dual nods. She's up for best game show host for "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" as well as best talk show host for being part of the ensemble of "The View."

The 33rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be presented April 28 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood and broadcast by NBC.
