TIJUANA, Mexico, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- Rich Kids on LSD singer Jason Sears died while undergoing drug detoxification treatment in Tijuana, Mexico. He was 38.
The Santa Barbara, Calif., resident was being treated with ibogaine, a drug derived from a West African plant that is not legal in the United States, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported Friday.

The Baja, Calif., State Attorney General's office said Mexican authorities attributed Sears' death to pulmonary thrombosis unrelated to the treatment, the newspaper said.
Sears was the third member of the hardcore punk band also known as R.K.L. to die in about a year.
He is survived by his parents and three children.
