'Brokeback Mountain' is Critics Choice

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 10 (UPI) -- "Brokeback Mountain" took best picture, director and supporting actress honors at the Broadcast Film Critics' 11th annual Critics Choice Awards.

Writer/producer Diana Ossana accepted the best picture award Monday night, saying: "I never, never imagined that a film from our little screenplay would be received like this," The Hollywood Reporter said.

"Capote" stars Philip Seymour Hoffman was named best actor and Reese Witherspoon won best actress for her portrayal of June Carter Cash in "Walk the Line."

Paul Giamatti was named best supporting actor for his role as Jim Braddock's boxing coach in "Cinderella Man," The Reporter said.

There was tie in the supporting actress category between "Junebug's" Amy Adams and "Brokeback's" Michelle Williams.

"Crash" won the awards for screenwriting and best acting ensemble.

The winner of the group's first ever best comedy award was appropriately, "The 40-Year-Old Virgin."
