WGA and PGA announce award nods

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 4 (UPI) -- The Producers Guild and Writers Guild of America Wednesday snubbed both "King Kong" and "Munich" in the pre-Oscar awards nominations.

The lack of a nod from the Producers Guild, particularly, doesn't bode well for Steven Spielberg's "Munich" or Peter Jackson's "King Kong" when the Oscar nominations come out, E! Online said. Four of the PGA's five Best Film nominees got Best Picture nods from the Academy last year.

The momentum appears to favor "Capote," "Brokeback Mountain" and "Good Night, and Good Luck," which picked up nods from both the PGA and WGA.

The PGA also nominated "Crash" and "Walk the Line," for its top award.

Woody Allen received a Golden Globe nomination for the "Match Point" screenplay, which was also ignored by the WGA.

The PGA awards are set for Jan. 22 in Hollywood while the WGA will hand out its awards Feb. 4 in dual ceremonies in New York and Los Angeles.
