Abuse charges leveled against Chris Brando

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- Christian Brando's wife and stepdaughter have filed suit in Los Angeles claiming Marlon Brando's son violated their civil rights with a pattern of abuse.

Deborah Brando and her 13-year-old daughter are asking the Los Angeles Superior Court to award them unspecified damages for alleged assault, battery, domestic violence and intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress, KABC-TV, Los Angeles reported Thursday.

Brando and his wife met in 1990, the same year he was sent to prison for six years for killing his sister's boyfriend. They married in 2004 and moved into Marlon Brando's home after the actor died.

The lawsuit filed Wednesday claims Brando violated the civil rights of his wife and her daughter with "a pattern of domestic violence, sexual abuse and physical assaults and batteries," KABC said.

The lawsuit recounts a beating last Christmas reported to police by Deborah Brando's doctor when she sought treatment for her injuries. Brando pleaded guilty to spousal abuse and was sentenced to attend drug and alcohol rehab and a spousal abuse program, and placed on three years' probation.
