Actress Beverly Tyler dead at 78

RENO, Nev., Dec. 6 (UPI) -- Stage and screen actress Beverly Tyler has died in Reno, Nev., at age 78.

The Scranton, Pa., native died Nov. 23, Daily Variety reported Tuesday. The cause of death was not given.

Tyler's first screen role was in MGM's "The Youngest Profession" and she went on to appear in "The Green Years," "Best Foot Forward," "My Brother Talks to Horses" and "The Fireball."

Her other film credits include "The Palomino," "The Battle at Apache Pass," "The Cimarron Kid," "Voodoo Island" and "Hong Kong Confidential."

She sang in the Broadway musical "The Firebrand of Florence" and graced the Los Angeles stage in "Miss Liberty.

She retired from her film career in the 1960s. She married comedy writer/director Jim Jordan Jr., whose parents were radio's "Fibber, McGee & Molly."

Survivors include a son and three half-sisters.
