'Wallace & Gromit' gets 16 Annie nods

BURBANK, Calif., Dec. 5 (UPI) -- "Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit" got 16 nods when the nominees for the 33rd Annual Annie Awards were announced Monday in Burbank, Calif.

"Wallace & Gromit" was nominated for best animated feature and swept the voice acting category with Ralph Fiennes, Helena Bonham Carter, Peter Sallis and Nicholas Smith all getting nods.

"Madagascar" garnered nine nominations overall, including best animated feature and multiple nods in the effects and storyboarding categories.

Other best animated feature nominees are "Chicken Little," "Corpse Bride" and "Howl's Moving Castle."

The top TV nominees are "AVATAR: The Last Airbender," "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends," "My Life As A Teenage Robot," "Star Wars: Clone Wars II" and "The Batman."

The 33rd Annual Annie Awards will be announced Feb. 4, 2006 at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, Calif. The ceremony's host will be Tom Kenny, the voice of SpongeBob SquarePants.
