NEW YORK, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony are starring opposite each other in a biopic of Puerto Rican singer Hector Lavoe.
The real life spouses are playing Lavoe and his wife, Puchi, in "El Cantante (The Singer)" which starting filming Sunday in New York, Billboard.com reported Monday.

"El Cantante" was the name of a Ruben Blades' song that was a hit for Lavoe, who became one of New York's biggest salsa stars of the 1970s.
The genre started to fade out in the 1980s and Lavoe -- beset by drug and alcohol addictions -- attempted suicide by leaping from a 10 story building, Billboard.com said.
He survived the fall and died in 1993.
