NEW YORK, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- MTV has given the go-ahead to a new series called "Jamie Kennedy's Blowin' Up."

The show will feature former WB star Jamie Kennedy and a buddy as they try to land a hip-hop record deal, The Hollywood Reporter said.

The executive producer is George Verschoor of "Nashville Star."

Kennedy is the producer of the WB series "Living with Fran" and most recently was seen on the big screen in "Son of the Mask."

MTV has not said when Kennedy's scripted/reality show hybrid is expected to bow.
