NBC holiday special based on Connick song

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Harry Connick Jr. will narrate NBC's new holiday special "The Happy Elf," which is based on a song he recorded in 2003.

The special premiering Dec. 2 was adapted from a song on Connick's "Harry for the Holidays" album, Billboard.com said Wednesday.

The hour-long animated story will feature a score written by Connick as well as two songs he wrote and sang for the production.

Carol Kane, Lewis Black, Mickey Rooney and Rob Paulsen all added their voices to the cartoon, due out on DVD Dec. 6.
