Boy George faces 15 years for coke bust

NEW YORK, Oct. 12 (UPI) -- New York police said they found 13 bags of cocaine in Boy George's New York apartment, which could mean 15 years in jail for the singer-turned-DJ.

The former Culture Club frontman was arrested Friday after police answered a bogus burglary complaint at his apartment and spotted cocaine sitting near a computer.

Police documents say the felony possession charges filed against the British entertainer, whose real name is George O'Dowd, stem from the large quantity of the drug found, thesmokinggun.com reported.

The entertainer was charged in New York Saturday, then promptly flew home to London. His next hearing in New York Criminal Court is scheduled for Dec. 19.

O'Dowd's attorney has said his "very social" client has many visitors at his home and one of them must have left the cocaine behind.
