Favreau is ShowEast's director of the year

NEW YORK, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- Actor, screenwriter and director Jon Favreau has been chosen Director of the Year by the U.S. film industry group ShowEast, it was reported Sunday.

Favreau will be honored with the award during the 2005 ShowEast Convention in Orlando, Fla., Oct. 24-27, the Hollywood Reporter said.

In making the announcement, ShowEast's co-managing director Mitch Neuhauser noted few people in Hollywood make it as an actor, director and screenwriter.

"Jon has proven that he can tackle all of these disciplines," he said.

Favreau rose to fame by writing, then starring in "Swingers." Among his directorial credits are the comedies "Made" and Will Farrell's "Elf."
