Traffic remembered on new concert DVD

NEW YORK, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band Traffic is remembered through a new concert DVD and a Steve Winwood concert tour.

"The Last Great Traffic Jam" was filmed during the British group's 1994 reunion tour, including a version of "Dear Mr. Fantasy" featuring the late Grateful Dead guitarist Jerry Garcia. Winwood says the DVD was due out in 2004 but was delayed when drummer Jim Capaldi fell ill and ultimately died in January from stomach cancer.

"I waited for a while because I didn't know whether Jim was going to recover," Winwood says. "We decided that now was a good time to release it, because it's something that has to come out, and we feel it's a great piece and it has to come out."

"The Last Great Traffic Jam" is dedicated to Capaldi and Garcia, as well as to two other deceased Traffic members, Chris Wood and Reebop Kwaku Baah.

Winwood is touring North America this fall and is playing more Traffic songs than usual in his set to commemorate the DVD's release.
