The native of Fromme, England and co-founder of the British Society of Cinematographers died Thursday after a long illness, the Los Angeles Times reported Friday.

Green won his Oscar for the 1946 black-and-white filming of "Great Expectations," but he was most proud of the 1965 interracial love story, "A Patch of Blue," which he both adapted for the big screen and directed, the Times said.

The film starring Sidney Poitier and Elizabeth Hartman earned five Academy Award nominations and won a supporting actress Oscar for Shelley Winters.

Before Green became a director in 1954, his credits as a director of photography included "Oliver Twist," "The Way Ahead," "Captain Horatio Hornblower RN," "Passionate Friends" and "I Am a Camera," the Times said.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, a son, a daughter and two grandchildren.

Richards crowned rock's No. 1 hellraiser

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 16 (UPI) -- There will probably be little argument with VH1's crowning of Rolling Stone Keith Richards as the "biggest" living hellraiser in rock 'n' rock.

Fans asked to submit to the cable channel their Top 10 nominees of the greatest living rock hellraisers chose Richards, 61.

The final list is representative of both British and U.S. rockers with Richards followed by U.S. punk rocker and former stripper Courtney Love at No. 2.

Ozzy Osbourne ranks No. 3, followed by Babyshambles guitarist Pete Doherty, Shaun Ryder of Black Grape and the Happy Mondays, Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee is No. 6, The Sex Pistols' Johnny Rotten, Robbie Williams formerly of Take That, Welsh warbler Charlotte Church clocks in at No. 9 and the No. 10 spot is shared by Oasis' Gallagher brothers, Liam and Noel.

The VH1 survey was taken to promote next week's finale of the CBS talent contest, "Rock Star: INXS," during which a successor will be chosen to take the place of the Australian band's late singer, Michael Hutchence.

Britney names baby Sean Preston

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 16 (UPI) -- Britney Spears and hubby, Kevin Federline, have named their 2-day-old son Sean Preston, it was reported Friday.

Born by C-section Wednesday afternoon at UCLA Hospital, he weighed 6 pounds, 11 ounces, "Access Hollywood" reports. The pop star known for her scanty outfits has a "very small and very low scar," a source said.

Spears' fifth floor room with a tented balcony costs $3,000 a night and her family and security have an additional seven rooms for a grand total of $20,000 per night, the source told the TV tabloid show.

The new mom isn't eating the usual hospital fare -- she has a private chef in a kitchen adjacent to her hospital suite.

Sean is the first child for Spears, 23, and Federline, 27, who has two young children with his ex-girlfriend, Shar Jackson.

Mary-Kate & Ashley take on Cole & Dylan

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 16 (UPI) -- Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have announced the next phase of their vast retail empire will focus on "tween" boys.

The 19-year-old college students announced Thursday they've signed twins Cole and Dylan Sprouse, 13, to launch a line of videos, CDs, clothing and assorted other items aimed at boys through their Dualstar Entertainment Group.

The new line will be called D.C. Sprouse, the sisters said in a news release.

"Cole, Dylan and the D.C. Sprouse brand are a perfect fit with Dualstar as we begin to move our company into the next phase of business development and expansion," Mary-Kate said in the release.

The Olsens assumed control of their empire in January. It is estimated each sister is worth $150 million.

The Sprouse twins are probably best known for their shared role as Adam Sandler's young charge in "Big Daddy." They also shared a role on TV's "Grace Under Fire" and starred in the Disney Channel's "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody."
