NEW YORK, Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Producers of the Broadway musical "Lennon" Thursday said the show, based on the life and songs of the late John Lennon, will close on Sept. 24.

The show will have played 42 previews and 49 regular performances when it ends at the Broadhurst Theatre, Playbill reported.

Don Scardino wrote the musical, which features an ensemble of nine actors slipping in and out John Lennon's persona at various stages in his life, backed by an onstage 10-piece band.

Billed as "a musical biography, a concert, and a celebration all in one," the show covers Lennon's life from his childhood and Beatles days through his pacifist activities and relationship with Yoko Ono to the day he was shot to death in New York.
