MIAMI, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- Colombia's Shakira topped the list of nominees for the fourth annual MTV Video Music Awards Latin America with six nods Thursday.
Shakira was nominated for artist of the year and best female artist, as well as video of the year for both "No" and "La Tortura" featuring Alejandro Sanz, Billboard.com reported.

Juanes and Miranda! received five VMALA nominations each, while Molotov, Reik and Andrea Echeverri took home four. Ashlee Simpson, Gwen Stefani and Kelly Clarkson will vie for best new international artist.
The awards will be broadcast live over MTV2 Oct. 20 from the Great Tlacho Theater in Xcaret in Mexico's Playa del Carmen.
It will be the first VMLA ceremony outside of Miami, where it began in 2002.
