VAN NUYS, Calif., Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Many prospective jurors appeared anything but impartial in the wrongful death suit filed against actor Robert Blake by his late wife's four children.
A number of those called to the courthouse in Van Nuys, Calif., Monday and Tuesday were sympathetic toward Blake, 72 -- who was acquitted in criminal court of killing his wife -- the Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday.
The criminal trial failed to produce any evidence against Blake in Bonny Lee Bakely's shooting death, the Times noted.
Many of the prospective jurors questioned Monday and Tuesday questioned the motives of the Bakely family in filing the suit. The family's attorney, Eric Dubin, said he would prove his case through small contradictions in Blake's statements that never came out during his four month criminal trial.
Dubin rejected a $250,000 settlement from the Blake camp.
"I believe there is still a strong sense that justice has never been served, and (this case) is my opportunity to get it for this family," he said.
