Oliver Stone ends pot case

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Aug. 11 (UPI) -- Oscar-winning director Oliver Stone has pleaded no contest in Beverly Hills, Calf., Superior Court to a charge of marijuana possession.

Stone, 58, was not in court Wednesday and paid a $100 fine plus court fees through his attorney, "Entertainment Tonight" reported Thursday.

Stone -- the director of "Wall Street" and "Platoon" -- was arrested on the misdemeanor pot charge May 27 by police at a drunken driver checkpoint. He spent the night in jail and was released on bond the next morning.

Stone pleaded guilty to a similar charge in 1999, "ET" said.
