Eastwood assembling cast for WWII epic

LOS ANGELES, July 29 (UPI) -- Actor Paul Walker will help re-enact the emotional Iwo Jima U.S. flag raising in Clint Eastwood's World War II epic "Flags of Our Fathers."

Walker will portray soldier Hank Hansen in the film based on James Bradley's book "Flags of Our Fathers: Heroes of Iwo Jima," the Hollywood Reporter said Friday.

Paul Haggis, who was nominated for an Oscar for his adapted screenplay for Eastwood's Oscar-winning movie "Million Dollar baby, adapted "Flag" for the screen.

The story will center on the 1945 battle of Iwo Jima, which produced one of the most enduring images of any war -- U.S. servicemen raising an American flag on the flank of Mount Suribachi.
