GREENSBORO, N.C., July 22 (UPI) -- Letters, drawings and manuscripts from master American short-story writer O. Henry will soon be available for perusal on the Internet, it was announced Friday.
The items from the Greensboro, N.C., Public Library, Historical Museum and News & Record have been digitized and are being put on a Web site that will be called the O. Henry Portal, the Greensboro (N.C.) News & Record reported.
Previously, only scholars and biographers had access to the collections of O. Henry -- whose real name was William Sydney Porter.
The portal was developed with a $7,875 grant through North Carolina ECHO, which stands for Exploring Cultural Heritage Online.
The site is expected to be up and running in September.
