NEW YORK, July 6 (UPI) -- Country singer George Strait's 28th album, "Somewhere Down in Texas," debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200, ending Coldplay's three-week reign with "X&Y."
It is the third time Strait topped The Billboard 200 and the 20th time the veteran musician has topped the Billboard Hot Country Albums ranking.
The Ying Yang Twins' "U.S.A.: United States of Atlanta" bowed at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 followed by Coldplay's album, which fell to No. 3.
Mariah Carey's "The Emancipation of Mimi" fell to No. 4.
"I'm a Hustla" by Cassidy, who recently turned himself into Philadelphia police in an April shooting, debuted at No. 5.
The Black Eyed Peas' "Monkey Business," the Foo Fighters' "In Your Honor," Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway," Gwen Stefani's "Love, Angel, Music, Baby," and Toby Keith's "Honkytonk University" rounded out the top 10.
U.S. album sales rose 6.6 percent over the previous week but fell 2.7 percent from the same week last year.
Year-to-date sales of 283 million units were off 7.5 percent from 2004.
