British take aim at 50 Cent's Reebok ad

LONDON, April 15 (UPI) -- British authorities are investigating a growing number of complaints about lyrics in a tune by rapper 50 Cent that alludes to the artist being shot.

The Advertising Standards Authority is investigating complaints over a Reebok campaign that references a New York incident in which 50 Cent was shot nine times. In the ad, 50 Cent conspicuously counts to nine, Celebrity Justice reported Friday.

Objections are being led by Mothers Against Guns, who are calling on Reebok to pull its ad and people to boycott the company.

"I say all parents should boycott Reebok until such time as they pull the ad and apologize," said a MAG spokeswoman.

Reebok responds that its ad shows just how much 50 Cent has had to overcome to get to where he is today, saying, "This is a positive call to our audience: Whoever or wherever you are, you can achieve."
