Courtney Love to play Linda Lovelace

LOS ANGELES, April 5 (UPI) -- Rocker/actress Courtney Love will portray U.S. porn star Linda Lovelace in a biographical movie about the "Deep Throat" celebrity.

"Deep Throat" was released in 1972 and featured such graphic depictions of oral sex that the White House banned the film, XFM reported Tuesday.

But it became a global success, earning an estimated $600 million.

Lovelace later became an anti-porn campaigner, maintaining she was coerced into making the film. She died in 2002 at the age of 53 of injuries from a car crash.

Love played a porn icon in 1996 when she starred as Althea Leasure, wife of porn publisher Larry Flynt, in the film "The People Vs Larry Flynt."
