Mellencamp not worried about boos

DETROIT, Nov. 24 (UPI) -- Indiana rocker John Mellencamp isn't worried about singing in "enemy" territory on Thanksgiving Day.

Mellencamp and fellow Hoosier Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds are slated to perform at halftime of the Indianapolis Colts' NFL game Thursday against the Detroit Lions in Detroit's Ford Field. There's a possibility the hometown partisans might boo their opponents homeboys, but Mellencamp says the thought "never dawned" on him.

"I'm a big Colts fan, but I don't view the Lions as 'the enemy,'" he said. "In fact, they're my second favorite team in the NFL."

Mellencamp and Babyface plan to sing "Walk Tall" -- the new track they co-produced for Mellencamp's new greatest hits album -- and the 1986 hit "R.O.C.K. in the U.S.A."

Mellencamp is finishing a stage musical, "Mississippi Ghost Brothers," with author Stephen King that they'll begin shopping to producers in the new year. Mellencamp is also preparing for his own tour to support "Words & Music: John Mellencamp's Greatest Hits."
