Legal questions off-limits for Reubens

NEW YORK, Nov. 23 (UPI) -- A publicist setting up media interviews for actor Paul Reubens is putting questions about his legal problems off-limits, the New York Daily News said Tuesday.

Daily News gossip columnist Lloyd Grove said Hollywood publicist Kelly Bush insists entertainment journalists who want to interview Reubens about the new DVD release of "Pee-wee's Playhouse" must agree not to ask about -- or write about -- two criminal cases against the 52-year-old actor.

In March, Reubens pleaded guilty in Los Angeles to a misdemeanor obscenity charge. Police had charged him with possession of child pornography. He was sentenced to three years' probation -- during which he may not have unsupervised contact with minors -- and was ordered to register as a sex offender.

Reubens' career was interrupted in 1991 when he was arrested and convicted on an indecent exposure charge in Florida.

Grove also said Bush wants interviewers to promise not to bring up Eminem's take-off on Pee-wee Herman in the "Just Lose It" video.
