NEW YORK, Nov. 19 (UPI) -- A recently discovered guitar played by George Harrison and John Lennon during Beatles recording sessions is set to be auctioned in New York.

The Gibson SG guitar, expected to sell for approximately $470,000 at the Dec. 17 auction, will be featured in the largest rock music and entertainment memorabilia auction ever at Christie's of New York, Sky News reported Friday.

The electric guitar belonged to Harrison, who played the instrument from 1966 to 1969 and was used during the "Revolver" recording sessions.

Lennon reportedly played the guitar on the "White Album" sessions in 1969.

Harrison gave the guitar to Peter Ham of Badfinger in 1969. After Ham's death in 1974, the guitar was stored for 28 years by John Ham, his brother, until it was put on display in 2002 at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for a Badfinger exhibit.

The 1964 signed contracts for the Beatles' appearance on "The Ed Sullivan Show" also will be up for bids, with the documents expected to bring between $50,000 and $75,000.
