LOS ANGELES, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Jessica Simpson's dad says the reason Christian music labels wouldn't sign his daughter early in her career was because of her shapely figure.
"Her chest is ahead of her by 2 or 3 feet so, you know, it gets there before she does," Joe Simpson, a Baptist minister turned artist manager, told ABC's "20/20," adding Jessica's large bust distracted male Christian music executives.
Joe, Jessica and Ashlee Simpson discussed their family, including the patriarch's impact on his daughters' careers, on the interview airing Friday.
The Simpsons undoubtedly overcame Jessica's anatomical distraction, with Joe making Jessica, and later Ashlee, top pop and reality TV stars.
"... Other than my talent and my mom's encouragement, my dad is the rest. My dad is 90 percent of the success of my career," Jessica said.
