'Slow Hand' Clapton has lead foot

MERCEUIL, France, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- Guitar icon Eric Clapton lost his driving privileges in France after being stopped for driving 134 mph in western France, it was reported Thursday.

Police fined Clapton more than $800 for driving his Porsche 911 Turbo 53 mph over the speed limit and confiscated his British driver's license, BBC said.

A court will determine how long Clapton will be banned from driving in France, but the entertainer will be allowed to drive in other countries.

After the incident, Clapton reportedly posed for photos with police officials.

The Grammy winner was allowed to leave the scene in his Porsche, but his secretary was driving.

Clapton, whose nickname is "Slow Hand," has won 16 Grammys during his five-decade career.
