P.Diddy must testify in 1997 shooting case

NEW YORK, Sept. 23 (UPI) -- A New York judge ordered Sean "P. Diddy" Combs to testify for a fourth time about a 1997 shooting outside a nightclub involving the rapper and Jennifer Lopez.

Combs, who was cleared of any wrongdoing in the December 1997 incident, previously has testified before a grand jury and at criminal and civil trials, and now must testify in response to a suit in which seven people claim they were injured as a result of the shooting and subsequent stampede at the New York nightclub, Celebrity Justice reported Thursday.

Combs, Lopez -- his girlfriend at the time -- and their entourage were at the New York nightclub Dec. 26-27, 1997, when the shooting occurred. A Manhattan jury convicted Combs' protégé Jamal Barrow, also known as Shyne, for possessing a gun and firing it into a crowd.

Combs, Barrow and several others are named as defendants in the new lawsuit.
